CrossFit California City Announces Junior / Senior High Summer Boot-camp Schedule
CrossFit California City (CFCC) will is hosting a strength and conditioning boot-camp for Jr. and Sr. High student athletes to help prepare them for the upcoming sports year. This nine-week long camp will begin on Saturday, 13 June 2009 at 10am during which each athlete will learn the movements necessary to perform the workouts which will follow every Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm and Saturdays at 10am. This first instructional session is expected to last three to four hours, with subsequent weekday sessions lasting approximately one hour, and Saturday sessions lasting from one to two hours. Space is limited and priority placement will be given to Desert Jr./Sr. High School Students.
During the nine weeks, your student athlete will show improvement in the following areas, regardless of his or her sport(s) of choice, fully dependent upon their attendance and dedication:
• Cardio-vascular and Respiratory Endurance
• Stamina
• Strength
• Flexibility
• Speed
• Power
• Coordination
• Accuracy
• Agility
• Balance
This is a co-ed boot camp, and will be scaled for age, ability and injury if necessary. Any athlete, at any level of fitness experience, is encouraged to attend. The camp will be based on the principle CrossFit prescription of “constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensity”. We understand the need to be cautious with growing children, therefore football athletes looking to “bulk up” should consider another camp for that purpose. Although we will do some weightlifting, “heavy” lifting will not be a predominant aspect of this camp. Athletes will be stronger and faster, but in most cases, leaner than when they arrived. Football players will benefit greatly from this camp, (The fourth quarter belongs to CrossFitters!)
Your athlete will receive some limited classroom time devoted to the science behind fitness and the body, as well as instruction on “performance-based” nutrition. There will be an opening fitness assessment and a closing fitness assessment to accurately measure your athlete’s performance gains over the 9 weeks. There will be shorter, goal-oriented workouts that will repeat a few times during the camp to track progress. Athletes will be required to maintain a “nutrition journal” to log everything that passes their lips during the camp. We will highlight areas of improvement in their diets and give them healthy, “performance enhancing” food choices they can (and should) incorporate into their diets.
Your athletes will all leave boot-camp as “CrossFitters” and will blow their coaches away when practice season starts. Our ultimate hope is that this camp will be a small part of your athlete’s choice to stay active, eat right, and live a long, healthy life as a result.
The cost of the boot-camp is $225.00 per athlete. A deposit of $50.00 per athlete is due by 29 May 2009 in order to properly plan for the boot-camp. $20 of the deposit is non-refundable to pay for T-shirts. All athletes will receive a boot-camp T-shirt and a certificate of completion at the end of the camp. The balance is due in full prior to the start of camp. The length of the camp is designed to accommodate vacations and missed days during the summer, while still providing the bulk of the benefit.
For more information, or to sign up, please feel free to contact Bob Guere directly by using the information below. Registration begins now, and will continue until 29 May. Hope to see you soon! 3…..2….1…. GO!
